We just had our anniversary dinner at Bordinos Restaurant and Wine Bar and it was top notch! It was my first time there and it was the best anniversary dinner we’ve had. Because the food is so good, we'll be back! Their sandwiches and ribs look delish too. My kids ask for their mac and cheese every time. Love the meaty and large smoked wings but wish they came with carrots or something else too (I got two strips of bland celery). Price is average, not cheap but they do have different kids night and happy hour discounts. Atmosphere is not the cleanest, old building with a bar environment. It was understandable that they were busy and I was grateful that there seemed to be good teamwork with the other servers, but we didn't even get a thank you at the end when I paid, so I wish my tip went to the other more helpful staff. We had to wave someone else down to get silverware when our food arrived and I never got a refill until she brought the check at the end. Once our waitress took our order she was pretty much absent the rest of the meal. Great barbecue pulled pork, smoked wings, and delicious signature mac and cheese and creamed corn! The service is hit or miss. Both times it has been busy, but no wait since they have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, I was seriously disappointed in Sassy's. I would have been able to rationalize it better if they were dead, and not turning over much food volume. So how we ended up with cold meat, yesterday-tasting french fries and seriously fouled mac and cheese- is beyond me. so they HAD to have been doing a ton of volume. The most confusing part, was that Sassy's was VERY busy when we came in, and the food did not take long to come after we ordered. It was bad, and I could only eat a few bites and had to leave the rest on the plate. One of my dinner partners who lives locally and frequents Sassy's said that 'no, it is not supposed to be 'smoked' and something is definitely wrong with it.' It almost tasted as if a chunk of burned wood from the smoker fell into the mac-and-cheese pot and was just stirred in. I am not sure if it is supposed to be "Smoked" mac and cheese, but it had a horrible burned wood flavor throughout. Finally, the macaroni and cheese was downright terrible. The "Fresh cut" french fries were VERY hard and chewy, and tasted as if they were yesterday's fries that had been heated in the microwave, or left under a heat lamp for a LONG time. Now, the bad: The meat was lukewarm at best, and some parts of the portion were downright cool. Unfortunately - that's about all the good I experienced on this visit. The pulled pork was VERY tender and melted in your mouth. Unfortunately, I didn't get that experience here.įirst, the good: Sassy's has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. As a visitor from New York City, I was anxious to get some good classic southern BBQ.
